Built towards the end of the A.D. XII Century, Antiphonitis Monastery is located in a valley about 8 km south of the village of Esentepe. The historic church in the center of the monastery is famous for its frescoes. Due to its unusual structure the Church is believed to have been built by the local craftsmen and local artists. The dome covering the church sits on eight columns. Four of the columns are adjacent to the walls. There is a fresco of Christ Pantokrator in the middle of the dome.
